My lazy spa has been fine for 18 months and is now tripping electrics every time I put on to heat and filter

if your hot tub is tripping the breaker, it could be due to a worn out ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) breaker, which is responsible for preventing electrical surges. You can try flipping the breaker to see if it trips again. If it does, then you may need to replace the breaker.Another possible cause of the problem could be loose electrical connections in your hot tub . This can lead to power fluctuations that cause your hot tub circuit breaker to trip. Professional electricians can inspect your hot tub and tighten any connections that are loose, which should fix the circuit breaker problem. If your spa is not receiving power, you should check your home's circuit breaker to ensure that it's not tripped . Reset the circuit breaker if it's tripped to restore power to the spa. If the circuit breaker keeps tripping, it may be an indication of an electrical problem, and you should call a professional electrician to diagnose and fix the issue

Why does my South Seas spa always has the jet1 light on with continuous filtering even though I have my filtering is set to 2 hours and my water temp is 90 degrees F.

According to the South Seas Spas Owner's Manual, the filter cycle begins 6 minutes after the spa is energized and the second filter cycle begins 12 hours later. The filter duration is programmable and can be set to 2, 4, 6, or 8 hours for continuous filtration (indicated by "FC"). The default filter time is 2 hours. It's possible that your filter cycle duration is set to continuous filtration mode. To change the mode, press the "Warm" or "Cool" button and select a duration of 2 hours. If this doesn't resolve the issue, it's recommended to contact a professional technician for further assistance.

The controller for my Prowler 920 will NOT turn on. It flashes a few of the lights on and off but will not power up so I can run the Prowler to clean my pool

If the controller for your Prowler 920 robotic pool cleaner is not turning on or powering up properly, here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:1. Check the Power Supply: Ensure that the power supply is properly connected to the controller and that it is receiving power. Verify that the power cord is securely plugged into a functioning power outlet. You can try plugging another device into the same outlet to confirm that it is working correctly.2. Inspect the Controller Display: Take a close look at the display on the controller. If any error codes or messages are displayed, consult the user manual or contact the manufacturer for further instructions on how to resolve the specific issue indicated.3. Reset the Controller: Try performing a reset on the controller. Look for a reset button or a combination of buttons to press and hold simultaneously for a few seconds. This action can often help resolve minor software glitches and restore the controller's functionality.4. Check for Loose Connections: Ensure that all cables and connections between the controller and the power supply or the Prowler unit are securely plugged in. Sometimes, a loose or faulty connection can prevent the controller from turning on.5. Replace Batteries: If your controller uses batteries, make sure they are not depleted. Try replacing the batteries with fresh ones and see if the controller powers up properly.6. Contact Manufacturer Support: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, it's recommended to reach out to the manufacturer's customer support. They can provide you with further assistance, troubleshooting steps, or advise on any potential repairs or replacements that may be needed.Remember to consult the user manual that came with your Prowler 920 for any specific troubleshooting steps or contact information for customer support.

Our control panel indicator lights do not light up when pool comes on but may come on during the cycle. No consistency.

If the control panel indicator lights on your pool system do not consistently light up when the pool is turned on, it could indicate a potential issue with the control panel or the electrical connections. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take:1. Check Power Supply: Ensure that the power supply to the control panel is stable and consistent. Make sure the power source is providing the correct voltage and that there are no loose or faulty connections.2. Inspect Wiring Connections: Verify that all wiring connections to the control panel are secure and properly connected. Loose or damaged wiring can cause intermittent issues with the indicator lights.3. Clean and Inspect Control Panel: Check the control panel for any signs of dirt, debris, or corrosion. Clean the control panel and its components using a soft cloth and a mild cleaning solution. Inspect for any visible damage or loose components.4. Test Indicator Lights: While the pool is running, observe the control panel and try to identify any patterns or triggers that may cause the indicator lights to come on. Gently tap on the control panel to see if it affects the lights. This could indicate a loose connection or a faulty component within the control panel.5. Consult a Professional: If the issue persists or you are unable to identify the cause of the inconsistent indicator lights, it is recommended to contact a professional pool technician or the manufacturer's customer support for further assistance. They will have the expertise to diagnose and resolve the specific issue with your pool control system.Remember, working with electrical components requires caution. If you are not experienced or comfortable working with electrical systems, it is best to seek professional help to avoid any potential safety hazards.

My Certikin Genie pool heater is showing error code HI indicating blocked condensate but there is no blockage, and sensor seems to be ok - tested with meter - is there anything else I can do?

If your Certikin Genie pool heater is displaying an error code "HI" indicating a blocked condensate, but you have checked for blockages and the sensor appears to be functioning correctly, there are a few additional troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check the condensate drain line: Ensure that the condensate drain line is clear and not blocked. Sometimes debris or dirt can accumulate in the drain line, causing a blockage. Use a thin brush or pipe cleaner to clean out any potential obstructions.
  2. Inspect the condensate trap: The condensate trap is a component in the heater's condensate system that collects and removes condensation. Check the condensate trap for any blockages or debris. Remove any obstructions and clean the trap thoroughly.
  3. Verify the exhaust system: Make sure the exhaust system, including the vent pipe and termination point, is clear of any obstructions. Blockages in the exhaust system can cause condensate backup. Inspect the vent pipe for any signs of damage or clogs and address any issues found.
  4. Reset the system: Try resetting the pool heater to see if it resolves the error code. Consult the manufacturer's manual or instructions for the specific steps on how to reset the heater. This can sometimes clear temporary faults or errors.
  5. Contact technical support: If you have performed the above steps and the error code persists, it's recommended to contact Certikin's technical support or customer service for further assistance. They can provide specific troubleshooting guidance or recommend a qualified technician who can diagnose and fix the issue.

It's important to note that working with pool heaters involves dealing with potentially hazardous systems and components. If you are not experienced or comfortable with troubleshooting pool heaters, it's best to seek professional help from a certified technician or contact the manufacturer for support.

FAQs

Why does my hot tub say cooling to 84? ›

Your hot tub temperature may start to drop once it gets warm because of a low flow. You may find that your hot tub won't heat past 99 degrees and perhaps only heats up to 84 degrees. This is often due to the filter becoming clogged and dirty, making it necessary to replace the part.

Why do my hot tub jets keep popping out? ›

If your spa jets couldn't stay in place or fall out every time you sit in your spa, this could mean they are broken, worn out, not screwed properly, or not correctly positioned.

Why are the jets not spinning in my hot tub? ›

If there is too little water, air could be working its way into the system through the jets. If you've checked your filter, water level, and the issue persists, you may have a clog in the line, or your pump is simply reaching the end of its lifetime and should be repaired or replaced.

How do I know if my hot tub heater element is bad? ›

If there is an excessive amp draw, that means that the heating element is in fact bad. If there is no draw from the amp, that means no power is reaching the terminals. Remember, it should draw between 15-25 amps (15 amps for a spa thats wired for 110 volts, 25 amps on a spa that has been wired for 220v.)

How do I stop my hot tub from overheating? ›

To help your hot tub cool down, drain a little of the hot water, add clean, fresh water to reduce the water temperature.

How do I know if my hot tub has an airlock? ›

As mentioned above, the most common sign that your hot tub has an air lock is the jets not working when powered on. This can include nothing coming out of your jets when they are turned on or even a humming sound coming from the jets or pump.

How do you purge air from a hot tub line? ›

Slowly turn the bleeder valve and let the air escape. You don't want to remove the valve, just loosen it a little until you hear the air hissing out. When the hissing sound stops, you'll see a stream of water and now you can tighten the valve back up. Make sure you tighten it properly because water can leak if not.

How do you clear hot tub jets? ›

The second way is to fill the hot tub with hot water to just over the jets. Then, add powdered dishwasher detergent, at least three teaspoons. For a more thorough clean, you can add a half-cup of bleach to the warm water. After you place the detergent and bleach, run the jets for 15 minutes.

How do I troubleshoot my hot tub jets? ›

Ditch the towels and get ready to dive into some easy (and a few less easy) reasons why your hot tub jets might not be working.
  1. Ensure Jets are Open. ...
  2. Look for Simple Jet Clogs. ...
  3. An Air-Locked System. ...
  4. Scale Buildup or Mineral Deposits. ...

Why are my hot tub jets pulsating? ›

The most common culprit here is a low water level – especially if you've had a lot of people in your hot tub at once recently. Filling your spa back up to the water line will usually fix pulsating jets. If the water level is fine, your filter might be clogged up and need cleaning.

How do you fix a hot tub that won't heat up? ›

Another reason why your tub isn't heating up properly could be that your filters need cleaning; see our filter cleaning blog for a step-by-step guide. Lastly, you should check that there's enough water in the tub. The heater relies on a sufficient water flow and won't work correctly when there isn't enough water.

How do I know if my hot tub fuse is blown? ›

Disconnect the power from the entire hot tube circuit. Then, test the fuse's continuity with a Volt Ohm meter. If the Volt Ohm meter shows infinity, the fuse is blown. Always follow all safety protocols when working with electricity.

Why is my hot tub saying too cold? ›

You are most likely to see this message when filling up the spa, as the water from your garden hose may be colder than 50 degrees. This message can also appear if your heater has failed or if the outside temperature is below freezing and is lowering the temperature of the water inside the spa.

Is 85 too cold for hot tub? ›

Warm Days:

Just lower the temperature to 95 degrees. Because the temperature will be lower than your body temperature, it'll feel refreshing on hot days. For an especially refreshing soak, lower your water temperature all the way down to 85 degrees to transform your spa into a cool plunge tub.

Why is my hot tub only 80 degrees? ›

If your hot tub isn't heating properly, there are a number of things that could be at play. Whether it's an inefficient, ill-fitting hot tub cover, a malfunctioning hot tub heater, power issues, faulty parts, or even poor insulation, it's important to identify the root of the problem.
